❤FUJIMINE❤
The Vanquisher Witch
Who is Fujimine?
Fujimine is an arc villain in the manga Ichi the Witch. She debuts in chapter 79, during the Magikeepers Arc, where she raids the Mantinel Witches Association all by herself with the goal of killing Chun, Jikishirone, Madoka, and Ichi. More importantly, Fujimine is the love of my life.
A sharp, playfully destructive witch with a kill count of over a thousand people, Fujimine is one of the Magikeepers' top bounties. In contrast with her remorseless criminal record, she is quite affable and somewhat affectionate. She gives people cutesy nicknames and loves teasing to get a reaction.
After defecting from the Mantinel Witches Association, Fujimine has allied herself with World-Hater Majik. That being said, she's unafraid of their prowess and does not hesitate to act against their order—even going so far as to suggest killing Ichi with them watching.
I think Fujimine is very cute and interesting. I became obsessed with her the moment I saw her, because she initially seemed very similar to one of my favorite OCs. However, as I learned more about Fujimine, I realized that they are actually very different in style, priorities, methods of evil, etc... Overall, Fujimine feels a lot more elegant/mature than my OC. I still enjoy seeing their similarities, though!
I get a little embarrassed to talk about it sometimes, but thinking about Fujimine makes me really happy. Unhinged flirty girls are often pretty hit or miss for me. Either I'm icked out by them, or I totally fall in love. Of course, this was a case of the latter. I look forward to every new chapter of Ichi the Witch with her in it—I don't know where Nishi will take her story, but I trust that it will make me happy no matter what!
❤Shitsuren❤
The Bleeding Heart Majik
Who is Shitsuren?
Classified as the Bleeding Heart Majik, Shitsuren is an easygoing, charismatic vagabond who loves to meet new people—especially witches. More importantly, Shitsuren is my ITW sona/OC (I kinda go between the two...).
Shitsuren claims she hasn't been alive for very long, but she's already thinking about death. Just one thing—no matter how torn up her body is, or how potently she is poisoned, she will completely recover in moments, without fail and without consequence. The healing is so fast that she often forgets entirely what it was like to take damage in the first place. This has caused her to treat her life and wellbeing with little regard, and she will often dive headfirst into dangerous situations or treat threats with a flippant curiosity.
Though she's not a human-hater, Shitsuren has no interest in aligning herself with the Mantinel Witches Association. That being said, she loves spending time with its members. This is because Shitsuren uses human life force as a source of sustenance, and a witch's vigor is the most potent and delicious (in her opinion, at least).
Additionally, Shitsuren romanticizes the human experience, but feels like she is fundamentally unable to completely understand it. She believes that this incongruence is due to her inability to die—without the inevitability of death, she will never live a life as authentic or satisfying as a human will. Unfortunately, this has led to the utterly bizarre conclusion that she must die in order to obtain the happiness that she believes only humans possess. For the record, she does not realize that death is permanent.
Trial and Abilities
Shitsuren tells her trial as follows: "A true love's kiss will do!". The kicker? She's not interested in being acquired. Although her lifestyle and penchant for dating witches seems counterintuitive to her aversion to acquisition, Shitsuren can't seem to shake her habits. Instead, she swiftly breaks off her relationships before she inevitably falls in love. Super healthy.
Shitsuren's signature ability is essentially life-steal. When the rhythm of a nearby heart reaches a high enough BPM, she is able to scoop some of its energy ("life force") and take it into herself. To the victim, getting a pinch of their energy stolen in this way feels like their heart skipping a beat or two.
To Shitsuren, humans have the most comforting and warm life force, with those with high magical potential (witches) being the most fulfilling. She claims that even a cadet's energy is "at least ten times tastier" than the average human's. That being said, most trained witches instinctively will bolster their defenses after Shitsuren attempts to take a bite. Oh well!
With the life force that she takes, Shitsuren gains a sense of fulfillment (like eating when hungry). As she takes more from hearts of the same species, her appearance will begin to resemble theirs, hence her remarkably humanoid appearance (well, barring a few things she can't seem to get rid of regardless of form).
❤FUJIREN / CHOCHU❤
aka Fujimine x Shitsuren
Shitsuren met Fujimine while on a date with a titled witch. Fujimine arrived on a personal mission to eliminate the witch, completely interrupting the date. Shitsuren was extremely shocked by Fujimine's superb killing ability and apparent bloodlust—as well as smitten with the grace Fujimine exhibited for a murderer. As infatuation blended with her desire to experience death, Shitsuren found herself overwhelmed by the feeling of butterflies in her stomach. If anyone could make her fall in love kill her, it must be Fujimine.
In addition to seeing if Fujimine can kill her, Shitsuren has also been trying to take pieces of Fujimine's life force. For some reason, it would seem that Fujimine possesses far more of it than any other witch Shitsuren has met before. Because Fujimine is interested in purging her own humanity and becoming a majik, she's interested in completing Shitsuren's trial to make it happen. But... Shitsuren doesn't want to be acquired, and Fujimine isn't looking to get her life force sapped away. Thus, these two are engaged in a toxic, two-sided game of cat and mouse.
Fujimine and Shitsuren are not in a committed relationship, but they always find their way back to the other. Neither can accept their feelings for the other in fear of the consequences that may follow. That being said, they can't stop being around each other, stuck in a will-they-won't-they game of trying to "catch" the other in a moment of vulnerability. They hopelessly gravitate around each other but are doomed to self-sabotage any and all opportunity for intimacy and true companionship. Unless...?
As I've made clear, I'm smitten with Fujimine, and Shitsuren's character is how I express and explore that. Here's a quick bullet point blast on that.
-
Ship name: FujiRen, or ButterflyKiss / CHOCHU (蝶ちゅ)
- Shitsuren is "Fujimine's Butterfly." Fujimine often calls her "Shicchan" as an affectionate nickname, which makes Shitsuren melt into a little puddle.
- I have to imagine some other weirdo is yumeshipping with Fujimine. You're cool, IDC about "doubles."
- I use "yumeship" and "oc x canon" pretty interchangeably. It kinda depends on how I feel about Shitsuren in the moment. Hope that's cool.
