Profile
Appearance
Cole is a young woman with a bulky build and a lack of concern with her appearance. She has messy platinum blonde hair tied in a low ponytail and blue eyes. She also has short, dark horns, a pair of wings, and a finned tail. Part of her right wing is torn and scarred. Two faded scars run down from her left cheek past her neck and down her chest, and there's an additional faded scar across her right upper arm. On Cole’s torso is a large gash, scarred as if soldered with metal, with some blotchy light blue bruising.
Cole's go-to outfit vaguely resembles a bullfighter's uniform. In general, she prefers bulky clothing. For some reason, Cole insists on keeping a specific yellow bandana on her person, whether tucked underneath her belt or tied around her neck.
When Cole talks or laughs, it’s big and loud. She takes up a lot of space when sitting or lounging about.
Personality
Cole is remarkably crass compared to the rest of the main party. She’s happy to say what the others won’t—oftentimes with a toothy grin on her face. As a pirate, Cole lacks respect for authority or nobility, and what quick wit she has is spent on poking fun at others. She has little trouble picking out what makes other people flustered, and will eagerly milk any joke dry.
Cole is also very reckless. She comes across as someone who doesn’t consider any consequences before acting—almost as if she’s asking for trouble. To her, unpredictability is exciting.
Independent to a fault, Cole believes that she doesn’t need anyone—after all, she rose and took over the Skysea Port without the support of a crew. She prefers to avoid attachments and committing to relationships, and she’s not easily swayed by emotions or cheap pleas.
All of this leads to Cole being terrible with vulnerability. Any attempts at sincerity are deflected with sarcasm or concealed with humor. Though, despite her apparent mean streak, Cole is most comfortable when laughing with others rather than at them. She's surprisingly caring, diligently ensuring that her allies are in good spirits. When someone catches Cole doing something kind, she pretends that it means nothing.
Abilities
In battle, Cole provides a tanky utility for the team. She has an ice aspect and can use a variety of skills to disarm the opponent. Her STR is also high, which makes her a viable attacking unit.
History
Prior to Story
Cole was born and raised in Sinocrast by two retired adventurers. In between running a steakhouse, these men taught Cole resilience, loyalty, scrap, and—most importantly—the best ways to cook meat. At the bustling hub of an island frequented by all sorts of travelers, Cole grew up surrounded by wild pirate gossip and drunken brawls and legends of magic treasure. Though Cole’s retired fathers wanted to settle down and live a peaceful life (as peaceful as Sinocrast could be), Cole idolized pirates—especially a particularly charismatic one who would frequent the steakhouse.
This pirate was Maitane, a member of the crew “Second Blood.” She exemplified everything that Cole considered awesome. Cole looked up to her, developing that sort of crush that blurred between admiration and infatuation. After getting to know each other for a while, Maitane confessed to Cole that she was going to leave Second Blood to start her own crew. She invited Cole to this new crew, who accepted without hesitation. Together, alongside the rest of their crew, they would go on exciting plunders under the name The Four Skulls. Maitane was a fanatic for collecting magical items and other unusual artifacts, thus building their collection was their primary goal.
In a mission gone wrong, Maitane was captured by a high-ranking officer of Guashan’s imperial fleet. On a mission to try and rescue her captain, Cole was told that the only way Maitane gets out alive was if she relinquished one of Maitane’s most prized hauls—Soul of Iron. Against her better logic, Cole did just this. She brought the Skulls to the rendezvous spot, Soul of Iron in hand.
… Not that she intended on just handing over Soul of Iron anyway. Some part of her thought she could pull a fast one over the other party’s head—just get Maitane and get out. If it truly came to it, she was certain her crew would understand exchanging Maitane’s prize for Maitane herself.
It was a trap. Maitane was released, but she wasn’t quite the same, muttering something about a “wolfdragon.” In a massive struggle, Cole was nearly split open, but she used Soul of Iron to save herself. Most of the Skulls are killed—the ones who survived blamed Cole for the ambush, branding her a traitor in the pirate world. Cole has been living with the weight of her actions ever since.
Since then, Cole has been "solo pirating," currently occupying the entirety of Skysea Port all on her own and killing time until it kills her.
