Cole is one of the protagonists of Bolt from the Blue, and also a member of Nox Noctis after the disbandment of the pirate crew she'd formed with her old friends. Originally tasked by Nox Noctis to retrieve Raiden, Cole inadvertently grew friendly with her target (as well as Araceli and Saffron).
Profile
Appearance
Cole is a bulky woman with platinum blonde hair worn in pigtails and blue eyes. She has dark blue horns, wings and tail. Part of her right wing is notched. Two faded scars run down from her left cheek past her neck, and there's an additional faded scar on her right upper arm. Cole also has a caelism bruise on her right wrist.
Cole's default outfit vaguely resembles a bullfighter's uniform in shape. She prefers bulky clothing. For some reason, Cole insists on incorporating a yellow bandana somewhere on her outfit, whether tucked underneath her belt or tied around her neck.
Personality
Cole is remarkably crass compared to the rest of the main party. As a pirate, Cole lacks respect for authority or nobility, which makes Saffron in particular rather upset. Unfortunately, Cole seems to rub this attitude in just to get a reaction out of him. Cole is very perceptive and can easily pick out and poke at whatever flusters whoever she's speaking to.
Despite her apparent mean streak, Cole is most comfortable when laughing with others rather than at them. She's surprisingly caring, diligently ensuring that her allies are in good spirits.
Abilities
In battle, Cole provides a tanky utility for the team. She has an ice aspect and can use a variety of skills to disarm the opponent. Her STR is also high, which makes her a viable attacking unit.
History
Prior to Story
Cole was born and raised in Sinocrast, an island to the west of the Solum continent. Her fathers ran a steakhouse, managing every step from hunting game to preparing high quality dishes, and Cole inherited that vast wealth of expertise (as well as their boisterous natures). In her teenage years, she met the captain of The Three Skulls, Maitane, who was visiting the island with the rest of her crew. Cole admired her, and they grew very close. Just before setting off, Maitane invited Cole to join The Three Skulls and "take over the world." Naturally, Cole accepted the invitation, and thus the pirates' crew was renamed to The *Four* Skulls.
For several years, Cole would travel with The Four Skulls, participating in turf wars with crews all over Luxos. They would engage "blitz-turfing," a tactic devised by Maitane herself—which amounted to taking over a small piece of territory, reaping its benefits, then quickly relinquishing it and moving onto the next. At first, other crews saw the unconventional strategy as immature and meaningless, but The Four Skulls would rise in notoriety as some of the most masterfully efficient plunderers. After years of this, the crew would debate over their initial declared goal—clearly, they weren't "taking over the world" as Maitane had childishly dreamed.
As tensions between crewmates carried on, Cole and The Four Skulls eventually came across rumors of a rather lucrative treasure: something hidden underneath Da Qiu's castle that no one aside from the monarch's inner circle had ever laid eyes upon. Maitane and Cole, who were Guashan natives themselves, were eager to uncover this treasure. Thus, The Four Skulls set aside their differences and once again banded together for more pirate shenanigans.
Though their master plans to uncover—and perhaps steal—the treasure were mostly successful, Maitane and Cole ended up separated from the rest of their crew. While everyone else fled the scene safely, the pair had found their way to the innermost chambers of the castle's dungeons. There, a great and terrifying monster awaited them, chained to the earth through means that were impossible to comprehend in the moment. After collapsing from an unusual force, Cole regained consciousness outside with the rest of The Four Skulls, and Maitane was nowhere to be found.
Cole was questioned by the rest of her crew about the situation, but could offer no words—much less answers. This led to accusations of treachery, but Cole was kept around the ship anyway to avoid appearing hypocritical. Likely as expected, Cole eventually decided that she had enough, leaving The Four Skulls of her own accord.
Since then, Cole has been "solo pirating," currently occupying the entirety of Skysea Port all on her own.
