Happy new year!
I'm only like two and a half weeks late -- 19 JAN 2025
Man I do not have a good memory. It's always been that way, but now that I'm working a job and balancing, like, a whole other life on the side, I'm realizing just how inconvenient having shit memory is...but it's fine. We make do with what we have...
Lately (as in, the past week) I've been having these horrible heart palpitations. They keep me up at night and make it difficult to focus on work. I'm used to these coming and going, but man they're really potent this time around. Wouldn't it be crazy if I was dying? lol. I don't think that's what's happening, but imagine...
Not related to much else, but I really want to get back into game development. It totally fell off my usual hobbies/tasks, and I kinda super miss it. Maybe I won't be working on Bolt from the Blue, but I really do want to be chipping away at SOME project.
The tasks...
So... What have I been working on? Well, in my "real life," I got a promotion at my job. Now that I'm a part of the management team, I have a lot of new responsibilities...it feels like a pretty serious job. I'm not very assertive nor do I have a good inherent sense for urgency, but I will do my very best to build up both of those qualities so that I can do a good job here.
Outside of that, I've been chipping away at a "secret" drawing for some months now. Once I finish it, I'll happily share it here. I've been excited about it for a while, and I'm really hoping it doesn't turn out bad lol...the CSP file info says I've got like 50 hours on this thing...
As for the DSA fancams? WELL...TikTok is having a weird time right now, being shut down in the States and all. By extension, that means CapCut is also shut down. We'll see if/when I can get back to those. Other than that, I really gotta work on preparing for the DSA March/April event...
What's fun?
To nobody's surprise, I am playing a lot of Taiko no Tatsujin. I feel like I'm getting pretty good at it tbh. I got new bachi recently and they work really well! I'll be using the "tiger stripes" bachi as my main pair for home-con and some arcade gameplay (depending on how good the arcade drums are), and the "checkerboard" bachi as my main arcade pair.
Other than the obvious, I have been playing a bit of Balatro to kill time. I have it on my phone now, which is sooo dangerous, because it's starting to eat up my valuable minutes during my work break and before bedtime lmao. It's fun though! I'm just kinda dogshit at it.
Also... I have been playing Visions of Mana. I'm going to be honest, I went in expecting a relatively simple/childish but tolerable story (as the reviews I've read seem to gesture in that direction). About 15-20 hours in, however, I'm finding that the story is hilariously bad. I don't know. It just felt lazy and then it got lazier and lazier, along with other aspects of the gameplay/progression/visuals. It's a little bit upsetting because I really do want to enjoy this game, but my experience hasn't been totally soured yet. I find if I just focus on the aspects I really like (the outfit design, the colorful graphics, the pleasant music, the customizable gameplay, etc.) then I'm fine. As a side note—this game is best enjoyed when you're not taking the story seriously. Which is probably how it's meant to be enjoyed, tbh (come on, wtf was that dark vessel setup??).
